Deutschland 2071

Film still from Germany 2071
It is the year 2071: The nation is on the verge of social and economic collapse, revolutions come and go like summer storms. Aliens are first given a friendly welcome, then processed into sausages. Child-rearing until working age is conducted in Greek colonies and emotions have been replaced with emojis: the epic retro science fiction film ‘Germany Year 2071’ portrays a dark and at the same time quirkily comic picture of a new, old, utopian, dystopian, nostalgic, futuristic city.
This retro science fiction project, inspired by Copper and Liska's visits to the cities of Cologne and Berlin, was cast and staged entirely with local participants in both cities using the existing industrial landscape as a springboard for play (similar to Godard's Alphaville).
All who came to the numerous public recordings became part of this epic project, which resulted in both a feature film and a radio play, and also included a blog - detailing the entire process from script to final edit, including production diary, participants' experiences, etc.
